Huntington Breakfast Briefing: David Morehouse, President and CEO of Pittsburgh Penguins

Please join David Morehouse, President and CEO of the Pittsburgh Penguins, for an exciting update regarding the latest development plans for the former Civic Arena site, known as Centre District.  With new development partners Buccini / Pollin Group and Intergen, and an updated master plan led by Gensler, the Penguins are poised to deliver an exciting mixed use housing, commercial, hotel and entertainment development that is poised to become the center of energy for the City of Pittsburgh and entire region.  Mr. Morehouse will be joined by Penguins’ Senior Vice President and General Counsel Kevin Acklin, who is working to help implement the Community Collaboration and Implementation Plan (CCIP) and spearhead what promises to be a transformational development.

In his 12 years as a senior executive with the Pittsburgh Penguins, city native David Morehouse has become one of the most successful and innovative leaders in professional sports.

Currently serving as the team’s president and CEO, Morehouse has helped lead the team to three Stanley Cup championships and four appearances in the Cup finals while setting new standards for sellouts, television ratings, social media, community outreach and innovation.

Morehouse, who grew up as a rabid Pittsburgh sports fan in the Beechview section of the city, graduated from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, and, during an earlier career in national politics, worked in the White House and the Pentagon while serving on four Presidential campaigns.

He received the prestigious Art Rooney Award for leadership and contributions to the Greater Pittsburgh community and an honorary Doctorate in Business Leadership from Duquesne University in 2017. This year he has received the Dapper Dan Leadership Award and is being honored as one of the Heinz History Center’s “History Makers.” He also is a member of the Board of Directors of Allegheny Technologies Incorporated (ATI), where he serves on the Audit Committee and Technology Committee.
