Starting Up! Early Stage Legal Considerations for Entrepreneurs, with Reed Smith

During this lunch and learn presentation, Matt Mohn and Ken Siegel, who are partners in Reed Smith’s corporate and securities group and frequently represent entrepreneurs, high growth companies and venture capital funds, will discuss common legal issues when starting and growing a technology company. The presentation will also explore legal issues that arise throughout a business’ growth cycle through an exit event. This workshop includes a one hour presentation, lunch and Q&A.
Topics will include: entity formation, governance, financing and the fund raising process (including investments from friends and family, angel investors, economic development organizations, venture capital funds and strategic companies), common founder’s issues, exit strategies, and general executive compensation and employment concerns. This presentation will provide an overview of the legal issues that any entrepreneur or high growth technology company should consider and be prepared to address.
Matt Mohn and Ken Siegel are partners in Reed Smith’s corporate and securities group and are resident in the Firm’s Pittsburgh office. Matt leads the Firm’s U.S. Emerging Growth / Venture Capital Practice and frequently represents entrepreneurs, high growth companies and venture capital funds. As part of his corporate practice, Ken represents entrepreneurs, high growth companies, family offices and venture capital investors.
