Women’s health has historically been understudied, underdiagnosed, and underrepresented. Magee-Womens Research Institute & Foundation is a local organization and our national leader working to bring this to an end. Across the globe, Magee fights for more women in clinical trials and more research dedicated to women’s health and reproductive biology. The research at Magee spans the lifetime of a woman, covering reproductive development, pregnancy and newborn medicine, infectious disease, gynecology, infertility, women’s cancers, and overall women’s wellness.
As the CEO of Magee-Womens Research Institute & Foundation, the largest research institute in the U.S. focused on women’s health and reproductive biology, Michael Annichine helped create innovative research and programs within UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital and Research Institute. Under his leadership, Magee has expanded its partnerships with industry, academia, and national and local foundations. Magee has grown exponentially in the last 5 years, more than doubling the size of its endowment and completing a $100 million development campaign for the Pittsburgh region.
